​The User Experience (UX) Manager is a player/manager who will lead a team of UX Designers and work closely with a cross-functional team of Web Designers, Developers, Online Merchants and Planners to design and create innovative, cutting-edge features and experiences for This position is responsible for leading the design and development of the overall experience architecture, patterns, design, standards, and interactive elements for eCommerce shoppers who interact with Express in a number of contexts online, via mobile, and in store. This position will be required to maintain a functional understanding of all existing and new customer interaction platforms.

Essential Tasks

User Experience Leadership
- Provide expertise in the development of experience architectures, interactive standards across contexts, and be the champion of the Express as related to technology integration, development, and design
- Champion user-centric design sensibilities and process throughout the eCommerce organization and across all of Express
- Works with others functional experts to research, design, and implement experience and technology requirements and assessments in the evolution of Express brand, design, interaction and development standards to support a "world class" eCommerce enterprise
- Provides consultation and serves as an expert consultant during development by reviewing interaction design, copy and visual design for usability best practices and user acceptance

Experience Team and Research Oversight
- Lead and manage the User Experience team, ensuring overall product and project/deadlines are met for all members of the team. Ensures the UX team creates and delivers innovative multichannel experiences involving:
- Understanding of Express audiences’ needs and other motivating factors and translating them into concepts for compelling interactions and experiences
- Developing, documenting, prototyping information architecture and interaction patterns and designs for highly interactive interfaces to support desired user behaviors, business, and marketing strategies
- Collaboratively developing scenarios, navigation models, and prototypes for demonstration of concepts to leadership and product teams
- Planning and executing iterative user research and analysis projects including but not limited to interviews, concept testing, and usability testing and heuristic evaluations
- Leading and/or participating in immersive user research, concept testing, and usability testing

User Experience and Information Architecture
- Strategic information architecture and interface design direction, concepting, prototypes, and documentation
- Process flows, site and app structures, wireframes, heuristic evaluations, competitive audits
- Develops web page and app designs that combine brand expectations, customer interactions and business requirements into a seamless experience
- Prototypes and tests new functionality
- Streamlines development process by creating actionable designs
- Coordinates with merchants/planners, designers, web content developers, and engineers to ensure that user and partner needs are met

Essential Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in HCI, Library or Computer Science or equivalent experiences
- Degree in a related field, such as information design, human-computer interaction, library science, cognitive science/psychology, graphic design, or industrial design a plus
- Experience: 7+ years experience working as a User Experience (UX) Architect, interaction designer, or user experience designer
- 3+ years experience in eCommerce, retail merchandising/marketing, advertising, product development, eCommerce or related fields
- 3+ years experience with usability testing including preparation, execution and analysis
- 3+ years experience managing UX staff and large scale projects
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and actively as part of multi disciplinary teams
- Experience with Omnichannel experiences and Web Accessibility Standards a plus
- Creative, self-motivated, and able to work with little guidance in an organized and efficient manner
- Strong understanding of user experience principles, interaction design, and information architecture
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to switch rapidly between different projects in a fast paced environment. Proven ability to effectively manage time and priorities for the team
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team of UX Designers

Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience in a retail environment preferred
- Must have knowledge of HTML code, JAVA, GIF, browsers, internet techniques, tools, animation and basic GUI design related applications and/or other design-related or graphics applications
